Workshop on the Occasion of Harald Niederreiter's 70th Birthday:
Applications of Algebra and Number Theory

to be held at the
Johann Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics (RICAM)
June 23-27, 2014

Harald Niederreiter's pioneering research in the field of applied algebra and number theory has led to important and substantial breakthroughs in many areas, including finite fields and their application areas as coding theory and cryptography as well as uniform distribution and quasi-Monte Carlo methods.
He is author of more than 350 research papers and 10 books.

This workshop will consist of talks from close colleagues and leading experts in those fields in which he has worked. The talks contain short overviews of different research areas as well as some very new research results.

The presentations focus on uniform distribution and quasi-Monte Carlo methods as well as finite fields and their applications, in particular, cryptography and pseudorandom number generation.

Organizers

  • Gerhard Larcher (JKU Linz)
  • Friedrich Pillichshammer (JKU Linz)
  • Arne Winterhof (RICAM Linz, Chair)
  • Chaoping Xing (NTU Singapore)
